The Chesapeake Bay Trust Environmental Education Grant Program awards funding to expand and enhance Bay environmental education programs for pre-K through 12 grade student in Maryland.


What this funds: The Trust seeks to increase environmental stewardship through environmental education by providing grants that build and expand pre-K through 12 environmental education programs and increase student access to programs that provide meaningful outdoor learning experiences.

Who can apply: Non-profit organizations, community associations, faith-based organizations and more. See RFP for full list of organizations.

How much can be awarded:
Environmental Literacy Program Development Track: Applicants may request from $5,001 to $50,000 per year for up to three years (Maximum $150,000 total award). The Trust anticipates making one or two multi-year awards in this track, but could make more one year awards. Applicants can submit one year or multi-year requests but all applicants must talk with Trust staff prior to formulating proposals.

Environmental Literacy Program Implementation Track: Applicants may request up $5,001 to $30,000 for one year. The Trust anticipates making 8-12 awards in this track.

Is match required? No, but applicants are strongly encouraged to leverage Trust support with cash and in kind match.

Deadline: The deadline is December 5, 2014 at 5:00 pm.

Partners: The Trust work collaboratively with the NOAA Chesapeake Bay and Watershed Education Training Program (BWET) to promote high quality environmental education experiences that meet the revised guidance for Meaningful Watershed Education Experiences in MD and the region.
