The Trust's April Organization of the Month: Evergreen Heritage Center
Located on 130 acres in Allegany County, the Evergreen Hertiage Center is an historic Maryland estate that pre-dates the Revolutionary War. The Evergreen Heritage Center includes over 100 acres of managed forest, an historic walking trail, a farm house and barn originally built in the late 1700s, and beautifully landscaped grounds, all in a picturesque location bordering the Great Allegheny Passage. The EHC Foundation, was formed in 2008 to utilize the EHC to provide environmental and experiential learning opportunities in a County where the per capita income is less than 75% of the national average and children are often deprived of educational opportunities that can make a difference. The Foundation, which is working with the Chesapeake Bay Trust (CBT) and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) and, as well as partners in the academic, business, and public service communities, is dedicated to teaching young people how to sustain both themselves and the environment.

The Chesapeake Bay Trust Organization of the Month
Every month the Trust highlights a different local group or organization that is doing its part to help improve the health of their local communitites and the Chesapeake Bay. Organizations like these are the backbone of the Trust; they are the people who get their hands dirty to create change where they live and encourage other citizens and neighbors to participate. For past Organizations of the Month, visit our archive page.
Know an organization that would be a good fit? Email Kristin Foringer at kforinger@cbtrust.org with your suggestion and why they should be highlighted.
