The Chesapeake Bay Trust: partnering to promote environmental stewardship through restoration, education, and community engagement.  Through our work, the Trust has a measurable impact in building environmental stewards committed to improving the environmental health of their local communities and the Chesapeake Bay.  Our impact extends beyond feet of shoreline restored or number of trees planted, it is also measured in lives touched, when people gain a new appreciation for the Bay and the land and water within its watershed.

Here is the estimated impact we were able to make in 2011:

Restoration
We partner with communities to restore habitat and protect the Bay.

7,121 linear feet of living shorelines installed
95,000 native plants and trees planted
70 acres of wetland, oyster reef, streamside buffers restored

Education
We help to ensure that our children learn about and care for the environment.

66,000 students engaged
4,683 teachers participated

Community Engagement
We get individuals actively involved in improving the health of local waters.

400,000 Marylanders supported the Trust with a Bay Plate
40,200 volunteers got involved
580 tons of trash removed from streams
