1) Allegany County Forestry Conservation District Board partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to improve water quality by installing fencing to keep cattle from polluting the streams and tree buffers to provide shade, erosion control and nutrient uptake. 2) Anacostia Watershed Society involved 550 students and 50 adults in planting a 1.5 acre wetland restoration. 4) George's Creek Watershed Association established a 200-ft. demonstration streambank/fish habitat restoration on a degraded stream with a history of trout populations. Included was a flood plain redesign with a fishing area, public access, and streambank restoration to improve fish habitat. 5) Chesapeke Wildlife Heritage will be creating over 20 acres of forest buffer and wetlands in St. James Run in Washington County in conjunction with students and faculty at Hood College.
