Sample Projects


RIP Invasives Program– Friends of Sligo Creek received a grant for $10,000 for staff time and materials to continue the RIP invasive species removal and education program. Volunteers working with Washington Council of Government and the Maryland National Capital Parksand Planning Commission work to remove exotic invasive plants and replant native trees and shrubs in riparian areas.

Libertytown Stewards Project– Frederick  County received a $25,000 award for project coordinator costs, native plants and supplies for a forest buffer planting, design, excavation, and materials for two rain gardens, and interpretive signage for the Libertytown Stewards project.  The citizens involved in these projects are supporting the Lower Monocacy Watershed Restoration Action Strategy.
