Aquaculture in Action- University of Maryland Sea Grant received an award for $15,000 ten aquaculture systems, sea horses and sea horse growout supplies, and water quality monitoring supplies for the Aquaculture in Action workshop for 10 teachers. Since 1999, the Trust has supported the “network of aquaculture educators” the raise and release of striped bass and other species as students learn about watershed protection and the importance of the living resources in the Bay.
Schools and Streams Program - Howard County Master Gardeners received an award for $12,578 for native trees, tree shelters and collars, delivery costs and a port-a-pot for the Schools and Streams program involving 3,000 fifth grade students from Howard County Public Schools. Volunteers and students are working with foresters from the Howard County Recreation and Parks Department to plant a forest buffer along a tributary of the Patuxent River in West Friendship, MD.
