The annual Fisheries Grant program is supported by a partnership between the Chesapeake Bay Trust and the FishAmerica Foundation.
In Fiscal Year 2008, grants of up to $35,000 are available to Maryland nonprofit organizations and their partners to restore fish habitat, improve water quality, and enhance fish stocks in the Chesapeake Bay and its Maryland tributaries. $100,000 is available in FY08, with an application deadline of December 7. 2007.
Types of prior projects funded:
In 2006, the Trust and FishAmerica considered the following types of habitat restoration projects for funding under the partnership:
- Fish passage enhancement
- Riparian restoration
- Stream bank stabilization and stream restoration
- Wetland creation and improvement
- Submerged aquatic vegetation plantings
