Stewardship Grants Program

The Stewardship Grant Program is now open and receiving proposals. Proposals must be received in the Trust’s office no later than 5:00PM December 5, 2008.

The Stewardship Grants program provides resources to watershed associations, citizen groups, and volunteers who work to protect and preserve the
 Chesapeake Bay and its rivers through on-the-ground restoration and demonstration projects.  The Stewardship Grants Program includes two categories: Restoration and Outreach.  Stewardship grant awards in the Restoration category are between $5,001 and $35,000.  Stewardship grant awards in the Outreach category are between $5,001 and $15,000.  The goals of the Stewardship Grants Program are:

  • Raise awareness about the challenges and solutions to restoring the Chesapeake Bay, its streams and rivers;
  • Promote collaborative watershed restoration solutions between citizens, businesses, and government;
  • Engage citizens in community-based restoration and protection projects that benefit watershed health;
  • Create watershed plans that identify specific actions that citizens can take to improve water quality and habitat.
