Give and Get Back this Holiday Season

As someone who loves giving gifts, this is really my favorite time of the year! I just love searching for that perfect gift for someone special that I know they will appreciate and enjoy. This year, I was thrilled that the Chesapeake Bay Trust had partnered with so many wonderful organizations to give me the opportunity to not only give great gifts, but give even more to a cause that I support. Here are six ways that you can buy gifts and give and give back this season:

1. Give and Get Back:

When you donate to the Chesapeake Bay Trust, you know you are putting your money toward something that will benefit not only you, but those around you in the long run. However, it’s always nice to get something back in return right way. That’s why the Trust has partnered with Crowdvance to give back to those who have given to us. When you donate through Crowdvance, you are able to select a gift card for yourself from companies like FTD Flowers, Bark Box, Movietickets.com, ShoeBuy and more! Seriously. You donate. You get a gift back. How easy is that? Click here to donate and get back!

2. Support the Trust with a Promo Code:

This promotion has the perfect gift for both adults and children! The Trust has partnered with MVP Group International to bring you gifts like Colonial Candle and Monkeez and Friends. When you purchase these products using the Trust promo code SBF82 at check-out, 20 percent of your purchase price will be donated to support the Trust’s restoration and environmental education work! Check out the products to choose from on Colonial Candle and Monkeez and Friends.

3. For the Fashion Forward:

Starting November 17, the Trust will be working with Guilt City and Fashion Project this holiday season. When you donate your gently used clothing and accessories to Fashion Project through Guilt City, you can select the Trust as a charitable recipient of the profits gained from those donations. Just visit the Guilt City website to learn more.

4. Smile with Amazon:

Buying a lot of your gifts on Amazon this year? (I love that two-day shipping just as much as you). Then don’t forget to try Amazon’s new way of donating through your purchases! It’s called Smile and it is one of the easiest ways to donate online. Buy your products by visiting www.smile.amazon.com and you will be prompted to select an organization to donate to. Search for the Chesapeake Bay Trust (we are in there I promise) and select us as your charity. Then go ahead and make your purchases! Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase price to the Trust’s programs.

5. Honor Someone this Holiday Season:

There is always that one person on your list who you know needs nothing. They already have everything they need and they are terrible to shop for. Why not make a donation to the Trust in honor of them this holiday season? Your honoree will be sent a letter letting them know about your wonderful donation to support our great work. You can even put it towards something they know they are passionate about? They love hiking in forests? Dedicate their donation to planting 100 new trees. Learn more about donating to the Trust this holiday season on our website. Bonus for you, the donation is completely tax deductible!

6. Don’t forget the Plate!

Nothing better than a car in the driveway with one of those big red bows huh? Maybe that’s why car sales are so big during the holiday season! If you are in the market for a car for you or a loved one (and live in Maryland), make sure to remember the Treasure the Chesapeake license plate (Bay plate). It’s only $20 and the money comes right back to the Chesapeake Bay Trust. It also looks really good on your car if we do say so ourselves. You can even order it online by clicking here and have it delivered to your home!

Whew! That’s a lot of ways to give back to the Trust this holiday season, which means there is something for everyone. If you have any questions about ways to donate or give back, please contact Kristin Foringer, 410-974-2941, ext. 113.

Happy shopping!
