100 Maryland Schools certified as "Green Schools"

Today CBT Executive Director Allen Hance joined Governor Martin O’Malley and Department of Natural Resources’ Secretary John Griffin in honoring 100 Maryland schools that were certified as ‘green schools’ by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE).  The announcement was made at the 2010 Maryland Green Schools Youth Summit, held at Sandy Point State Park, which was attended by more than one thousands students, parents, teachers, and other supporters.

For 25 years the Trust has supported schools throughout Maryland who bring the Bay in the classroom and take the students out of the classroom to learn and implement conservation projects in their communities. Last year, through voluntary contributions made through the Treasure the Chesapeake license plate, the Trust awarded nearly $800,000 to support green schools and environmental education.”
